City laptop stolen from Old First Ward home

A burglar stole $15,000 worth of jewelry and a City of Buffalo-owned laptop early today after getting into a home in the Old First Ward through an unlocked front window, the home's resident told police.

The Vincennes Street resident told police the prowler entered sometime between midnight and 8 a.m.

The suspect stole jewelry, the laptop, a container holding $500 in coins, a camera and a purse.

It's not clear whether the woman who reported the thefts is a city employee, whether she had permission to take the laptop home with her or what information is stored on the computer.

A City Hall spokesman did not immediately return phone calls from The Buffalo News.
