Gangsters terrorise polls team nominee’s family
Three armed gangsters on Wednesday stormed Mr Ken Nyaundi’s house and terrorised his family, demanding to know his whereabouts.
The gangsters stormed the house on Dennis Pritt Road at about 3 am and accosted his wife, Federation of Kenya Women Lawyers executive director Patricia Nyaundi.
Tied up
They tied up his two daughters and two nieces in one room as they ransacked the house. They then harassed Mrs Nyaundi and her daughters for more than two hours before leaving. They did not steal any valuables.
Mr Nyaundi had travelled to South Africa to receive his PhD when the incident took place. The lawyer’s brother, Mr Albert Nyaundi, said this was no ordinary robbery as the gunmen waited in the house hoping that he would return.
“I read a sinister motive in the attack. The gunmen only took away two mobile phones although there were laptop computers and other valuables that criminals could have taken away.
“They seemed to be interested only in his whereabouts and kept demanding that his wife show them where he was hiding. We believe he was being targeted because of his nomination for the chairmanship of the Interim Independent Electoral Commission,” he said.
Meanwhile, armed gangsters raided offices at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and stole computers and other goods on Monday morning. The gangsters mysteriously entered JKIA’s Cargo and broke into Ken House where they found two watchmen and tied them up.
They ransacked four offices and carried away computers and other office equipment. The guards were found by employees reporting for duty in the morning.
