Holland schools break-ins to cost district $5,000
Break-ins at Holland High School and West Middle School will cost the school district more than $5,000 in repairs and stolen equipment, a Holland Public Schools official said Wednesday.
Facilities, Transportation and Safety Director Brett Roach estimated costs at $5,000 to $6,000, including the cost of boarding up smashed windows, window repair, and a stolen computer and monitor.
Roach said the smashed window at the high school had been replaced, while four windows at West Middle School had been boarded up, while the glass was specially ordered.
“We’re going to have boarded up windows for a couple of weeks here,” Roach said.
The two schools and a third location, a medical office building at 844 S. Washington, were broken into sometime Monday night.
Two suspects fled the scene of the medical office building after they were surprised by a nighttime cleaning crew.
Police don’t know if break-ins at the schools and at a medical office building were related, although all three are within close proximity of each other.
