Arrest made in SIUC computer thefts

CARBONDALE — A Southern Illinois University Carbondale student is facing burglary and theft charges stemming from the left of laptop computers and equipmenton campus dating back to last fall.

Corinthian C. Williams, 22, was arrested at his residence Thursday, SIUC Public Safety Director Todd Sigler said Friday.

Sigler said Williams was linked to three thefts, each from the SIUC school of Mass Communication and Media Arts.

Sigler said those thefts were:

Sept. 29: an Apple laptop belonging to the university was stolen.

Dec 2: An Apple Mac Mini, also belonging to the university was reported stolen.

Feb. 18: A power cord was reported stolen; the cord was valued at about $50.

Williams’ case will be referred to the university’s judicial affairs office which will determine what action might be taken.
