The Oklahoma Department of Human Services has notified clients that their names and personal information may have been stolen from an OKDHS employee laptop, which was also stolen.
According to a release issued Thursday, OKDHS has not received information that any client's data has been compromised.
"The risk of the data being accessed is low because the computer uses a password protected system," said OKDHS Director Howard H. Hendrick in a release. "Nevertheless, we have contacted our clients to inform them there is a possibility their personal information may be viewed."
According to a release, the computer file included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and home addresses of clients who receive Medicaid, Child Care assistance, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Aid to the Aged, Blind and Disabled and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
The possible breach did not affect child welfare services, according to the release. By Staff Reports
