Cars, computers taken by thieves

THOUSANDS of dollars worth of goods were stolen during a spate of burglaries at the weekend.
Alcohol, laptops and cars were among the items taken by thieves in four separate incidents.
Mick Browning arrived at his Wallace St business, Mick's Pro Gas and Car Audio, yesterday morning to find the door had been kicked in and two carsstolen.
Police found Mr Browning's Holden Commodore in Victoria Park, but it had been badly damaged.
Two amplifiers, three sub woofers and a screen were stolen from the back of the car while an another screen and a stereo were ripped out of the front.
Mr Browning said he did not yet know how much the damage was worth, but he had spent a lot of time and money working on the car.
"I drive around town like a nana (in it) and someone's gone and thrashed it," he said. Another car, a silver Ford Telstar was stolen and has not been recovered.
In a separate incident, thieves smashed the door open of Campana's Stockade Cellars at the corner of Armstrong and Mair streets about 4.30am yesterday.
Stolen were 30 bottles of spirits, including bourbon, vodka and gin, worth more than $1000.
Also in Armstrong St several hours earlier, seven laptops worth about $17,000 were stolen from Leading Edge Computers.
Thieves broke in through the front door between 11.15pm and 11.25pm Sunday. Police said it was unknown whether the burglaries were related.
Meanwhile, an unknown amount of cash was stolen from Lifestyle Equipment and Mobility on the corner of Humffray and Mair streets overnight Sunday.
