Authorities are searching for thieves who broke into Vancouver's American Red Cross office early Monday and stole two laptop computers and life-saving instructional materials.
The burglary happened about 12:15 a.m. at the office at 3114 E. Fourth Plain Blvd. According to an American Red Cross bulletin, the burglars climbed an 8-foot-tall security fence and broke a front door.
They set off an alarm, summoning Vancouver police officers. Upon their arrival, the thieves had fled, according to the bulletin. Officials found extensive damage to locked interior doors.
The dollar amount from the thefts and damage isn't high enough for the Red Cross to file an insurance claim, and the chapter will have to absorb the loss itself, according to the bulletin.
Anyone with information should call the Vancouver Police Department at 487-7399 or the Red Cross at 693-5821.
