Boy, 14, charged in Merrimack burglaries
MERRIMACK – A 14-year-old boy was arrested yesterday and accused of pilfering several thousand dollars worth of items and starting a small fire inside one of two Joppa Road homes burglarized Monday.
While the residents of 6 and 14 Joppe Road were away sometime between 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, police believe the boy, whose name won't be released because he is a juvenile, vandalized and stole items, including multiple laptop computers, some jewelry, and a 9-millimeter pistol and ammunition.
The boy also allegedly stole an assortment of electronics including video games, DVDs, and a global positioning satellite unit, police said.
The teen, who will appear in Merrimack Juvenile District Court in a few weeks, faces four felony-level charges, including two counts of burglary, one for arson and firearmtheft, police said.
