Men stroll out of BJ's with stolen TVs, electronics
By Bruno Matarazzo Jr.Staff Writer
DANVERS — Two men walked out of BJ's Wholesale last night with a carriage full of electronics.
But there was one problem: They never paid for it.
The pair walked out the wholesale store off Endicott Street with three to four flat-screen televisions and two computers.
Police Sgt. Robert Bettencourt said the pair left in a blue Ford Explorer that had a stolen license plate attached. The license plate was stolen out of Peabody, Bettencourt said.
Police described one of the culprits as a black man, normal weight, dark-colored clothing, a dark-colored baseball hat and a dark-colored hooded jacket. The second man is described as a black man in his late 30s to early 40s wearing all dark clothing. He had a stocky build.
The two men had the items in a carriage and on a flat-bed carriage and walked past the register without paying, Bettencourt said.
The pair stole two 46-inch Sony flat-screen televisions, two computers and two 23-inch flat-screen televisions. An additional flat-screen television might also have been stolen.
The two men didn't have enough time to pack all the electronics in the car. Police found one of the televisions still in the carriage.
