Rash of thefts probed by police
NIAGARA FALLS—Police recovered a television moments after it was stolen from a Zito Drive apartment— one of several burglaries investigated Friday.
The Zito Drive resident returned home at about 5 p. m. and saw a car speeding away with what appeared to be her television inside. Police, who received a description of the car, tracked it to a Cayuga Village residence, where the TV was found. An arrest is pending, police said.
Also stolen from the Zito Drive address were $450 in cash and three bottles of prescription painkillers. Those items were not recovered, police said.
Other thefts under investigation follow:
• Video game system, game cartridges and DVDs from an Ashland Avenue home overnight Thursday.
• Two desktop computers and monitors from the Colvin Boulevard offices of the city Youth Department. The loss was estimated at $1,200.
• DVDs and a lockbox containing jewelry and coins from a 22nd Street home Friday afternoon.|
• Computer equipment valued at more than $1,300 from a Grand Avenue home Friday evening.
