School computer thieves knew their way around

Atlanta Police are searching for two masked men who broke into Grady High School and
stole 26 computers.

School staff arrived at the Midtown school Tuesday morning to find
16 iMacs missing from one computer lab and another 10 iMacs stolen from the other, Atlanta Public Schools spokesman Joe Manguno said.
The suspects broke a glass door on the backside of the school near Piedmont Park and then went straight to the computer labs, Manguno said.

School officials say it appeared the suspects - two men wearing ski masks - had been in the school before. They placed a piece of duct tape over a security camera in front of the door.

However, another camera did capture the men inside the school.

“We’re trying to see if they are connected to the school. They seemed to know their way around and exactly where they were going,” Manguno said. “We think it was targeted.”

Manguno said the suspects appear to be adults - not students.

School officials are working with Atlanta Police to analyze the security footage, which was captured on a $20,000 security system Grady won last year in a national contest, Manguno said.

Although classes are out, summer school is in session at Grady.
