Items stolen from church

Anderson County sheriff’s authorities continue to seek suspects in the weekend burglary of a local church during which property with a total value of approximately $10,000 was reportedstolen.
The burglary occurred at Emanuel Baptist Church located on U.S. 84, just east of the Palestine city limits, sometime between Friday afternoon and 9 a.m. Saturday, according to authorities.
“The pastor stated that he had left the church on the previous evening (Friday),” said Troy Black, chief deputy for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. “He advised when he arrived about 9 a.m. on the 18th (Saturday) that he found someone had entered the church. After making entry, they stole numerous items.”
The intruder(s) gained entry into the building by “pushing an air conditioning unit” into the pastor’s office and then entering through the opening, according to Black.
The stolen items consisted of five guitars, a guitar amplifier, two computers and a “safety strong box,” according to the chief deputy.
The guitars, including acoustical, electric and base ones, ranged in value from $479 to $3,700, while the computers were valued at $690 and $589, according to a sheriff’s report. The guitar amplifier was valued at $400, the same report indicated.
“Evidently, most of the items were taken from the main area of the church,” Black said.
Photographs were taken at the scene, and officers attempted to lift fingerprints, the chief deputy added.
As of Tuesday morning, Black said his agency had no suspects in the burglary.
Anyone with information leading to the arrest of a suspect in this weekend’s church burglary may receive a reward of up to $1,000 from Anderson County Crimestoppers.
