SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — Sunnyside police have arrested a 17-year-old convicted felon for having three guns, a stash of ammunition, a variety of drug paraphernalia and two stolen computers.
Sunnyside police sent a news release this morning about the arrest Friday on the 900 block of 15th Street.
The boy remains in custody at the Yakima County Juvenile Justice Center. Police said they will request charges of illegal possession of firearms, filing away weapon serial numbers, possession of drug paraphernalia andstolen property.
Law enforcement found the weapons, ammunition and paraphernalia during a state Department of Corrections parole check of a different person at the house, said Charlotte Hinderlider, a Sunnyside police spokeswoman.
During the search, police found an assault rifle, a .22-caliber handgun with a loaded magazine and a 9 mm handgun with a fully loaded magazine, Hinderlider said.
Officers also found a sawed-off shotgun barrel, ammunition, three glass bongs used for smoking marijuana and two computers that had been reported stolen, Hinderlider said.
Yakima County Sheriff’s deputies and Washington State Patrol troopers assisted Sunnyside police and state corrections officers.
The 900 block of 15th Street is the same neighborhood of a September 2008 gang-related shooting that killed 16-year-old Juan Ramos of Sunnyside.
