Last Update: 8/05 3:44 pm

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) -
Granite School District police are asking the public help them catch a computer thief.

The suspect was caught on tape at Woodrow Wilson Elementary at 2567 South Main Street.

He put a computer in a yellow recycling container and walked out.

Officers say the theft will be especially hard on the children.

“A lot of the students are just barely learning English. For them to lose this computer is a big deal,” said Granite District Police Chief Randy Johnson.

Police say the suspect is white or Hispanic, 25 to 30 years old. He was wearing a white muscle shirt, denim shorts and a dark bandana.

Police say he was driving a small dark pick-up, possibly a Toyota with a white or light colored camper shell.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call 801-481-7122.
