VAN NUYS-Two suspects who stole laptop computers from a Catholic middle school in Van Nuys were still on the lose, police said Sunday.
The laptops were taken Friday from St. Elizabeth's School at 6635 Tobias Avenue, a watch commander from the LAPD's Van Nuys station said.
A surveillance camera recorded two men breaking into the school and loading their van with the computers, which had just been programmed for the 6th, 7th and 8th graders, according to television news reports.
The 60 laptops were meant as a surprise for the students when they returned to school on Monday, school Principal Barbara Barreda said.
