Computer stolen from Courier office

WATERLOO --- Police are looking for the man who swiped a computer from the offices of The Courier over the weekend.

And they have a video showing the thief in action.

Employees noticed the machine, a Dell desktop model valued at about $700, missing from the first-floor business office when they came in to work Monday morning.

The computer had been used in the classified department of the newspaper.

According to the security video, the intruder entered The Courier at about 10 a.m. Saturday by catching the locked outside door as an employee who was working the weekend left the building.

He quickly made his way to the first-floor reception area and looked around before deciding on his target. The thief sat down in a corner and reached into the work area where he unplugged cords.

When he was done, he tucked the computer tower under his arm and walked out of the building. He had been inside for about seven minutes. The tape has been turned over to Waterloo police, who are investigating the crime.
