Items stolen from Lamar Middle School

Flower Mound Police are hoping to find those responsible for stealing more than $4,000 worth of equipment from Lamar Middle School during the summer break, but Assistant Police Chief Byron Lake said this case will be difficult.

According to a police report, four laptop computers, two airline slates, a digital camera, a document camera and a projector were stolen sometime between June 5 and Aug. 24. Total value of the items is $4,225.

"It's going to be very difficult to establish any leads because of the large gap in time when this could occur and did occur," Lake said. "With that large of a span in time, this will be difficult."

There was no forced entry at the school, but Lewisville ISD spokeswoman Karen Permetti said the school was open all summer for construction, cleaning and repair work, which could have provided an opportunity for theft.

Permetti said the items were first noticed missing when the principal and staff returned to school in late August, but the district held off on filing a police report until Monday to make sure the items had been searched for thoroughly.

Permetti said the theft won't impact the district's budget since insurance will replace the items now that a police report has been filed.
