THE computer laboratory at Mayiwane High School in northern Hhohho is without 22 computers which were stolen during the festive season.
The theft was discovered two weeks ago.
The thieves broke open a window to enter the lab. After taking the computers, they cut the school fence and went away.
The school’s principal, Anderson Mkhonta, confirmed the incident yesterday – saying when they asked the school security guards if they saw anything, the guards replied that they didn’t see anything.
The theft was discovered by groundsman, Mfanzile Kunene, who then alerted police and later the school Headmaster, Mkhonta, who was attending the Incwala.
It is said when the police made inquiries, the duty guard said he did not see anything.
He stated that 10 of the computers had just been given to the school by the ministry of education just before schools closed last year.

“They were still in their boxes as we had hoped to use them this year. They were the latest Samsung models, while the other 12 were HP models which were also not that old.
“The thieves did not take the keyboards of the Samsungs, but took the monitors and hard drives of all the machines,” Mkhonta said, adding that the theft had disrupted their computer studies syllabus.
“We are now engaged with the school committee to beef up security because there is more equipment which could make the thieves to come again,” he said.
Police spokesperson Assistant Superintendent Wendy Hleta confirmed this incident, saying Buhleni and Pigg’s Peak police were investigating the theft.
“We have not made any arrests right now, but investigations are still continuing,” she said.
