Deputies Say Man Entered School Just After Midnight Tuesday

LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A Lake City middle school was burglarized shortly after midnight Tuesday, Columbia County deputies said.Deputies said school staff reported the burglary when they arrived for work about 7 a.m.Deputies said surveillance video shows a white man using a master key to enter various offices at the school. Deputies believe that the man stole the master key from a key box in the school.The man spent more than an hour on the school grounds, deputies said. Investigators said the man stole several laptop computers, a safe containing cash and other electronic items.Lake City Middle School staff were in the process of conducting an inventory of property to determine what specific items were stolen.Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call Detective Glen Wyche at 386-758-7015 or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099.
