Apple MacBooks stolen from Newcastle school |
| Posted on: Wednesday, October 20, 2010 - Placer County Sheriff's Dept. A reward is being offered for information leading to arrest in a burglary from a Newcastle school over the weekend where thieves made off with 32 brand new Apple MacBook laptop computers. The computers were stolen from the Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School sometime between 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 and Monday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 a.m. The computers, still in boxes, are described as white, 13-inch Apple MacBook laptops. They are valued at $36,000. The suspect or suspects entered the school by breaking a window. They then went through five classrooms before breaking a padlock to enter a secure area where the computers were stored. “The true victims in this case are the students who are now without their educational tools,” said Lt. Jeff Ausnow. “Hopefully, the public can assist us in identifying the suspect or suspects and we can return the computers to the children.” Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous and receive up to $1,000 is urged to call Placer County Crime Stoppers toll-free at 800-923-8191. Operators are available 24 hours a day. If that information leads to an arrest or arrests, a cash reward will be paid. All information remains confidential.
