Commemorative coins, computers and a Remembrance Day collection jar were stolen from the Crofton Post Office sometime overnight Thursday, police say.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are investigating the break-and- enter of the York Road post office after a mail carrier called the cops at around 6 a.m. Friday.

The store appeared to have been rifled through by thieves, said Const. Markus Lueder of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment.

“Another postal employee later confirmed numerous coins were stolen from the display case, and two computers were also stolen along with the Remembrance Day collection jar.

“It appears the thieves gained entry into the office by prying open the back door.”

The investigating officer requested help from the RCMP’s forensic identification unit to find any prints or impressions left by the crooks.

The RCMP requests anyone with tips about this crime to call the detachment at 250-748-5522, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222 8477.
