Computers stolen

from under police's nose in Vastrapur

AHMEDABAD: Seven computers worth Rs 1.47 lakh were stolen from JB Towers, a building right in front of the Vastrapur police station, over a matter of two days. The owner of the firm lodged a complaint for theft on Monday for the incident.

According to Vastrapur police station officials, Sudhir Hodke, director of Education Initiative Pvt Ltd, JB Tower, filed a complaint for theft of eight monitors and seven CPUs from his office between December 18 and 20 after breaking lock on the main door.
"The incident came to light when an employee went to the office at 7.30 am on Monday. He was shocked to see the locks missing and the shutter broken. He then informed senior officials about the incident after which it was found to be a case of theft. We have started investigating the case. The building also has a watchman but he did not raise any alarm. He has been questioned on who had visited the floor in question on Saturday and Sunday," said a Vastrapur police station official.

The office, said investigators, is less than 150 meters away from the police station.
