20 laptops stolen
HYDERABAD: Burglars gained entry into a computer shop in Malakpet on Saturday night and escaped with 20 laptops. The incident happened at Computer Point located near Chermas showroom on the Malakpet main road.
On Saturday at about 9 pm, the shop owner Shivalingaiah closed the shop and went home. The incident came to light at about 7 am on Sunday, when a paper boy noticed the broken lock and the partially lifted shutter.
With the help of other shopkeepers, the information was passed on to Shivalingaiah, who immediately rushed to the shop and realised that 20 laptops were stolen. After figuring out the lost property, he lodged a complaint with the Chaderghat police.
"Burglars broke the centre lock of the shutter open to gain entry and escaped with 20 laptops worth Rs 5.68 lakh," Chaderghat inspector D Anand Kumar said. Police registered a case under section 457 (housebreaking) and 380 (Theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
