Computers stolen in school break-in

THE headteacher of Llanarmon DC Primary School has expressed his “great disappointment” after the school was targeted by thieves last week.
Evidence of a break in at the school in the upper Ceiriog Valley was discovered by the school caretaker and a teacher at around 8.15am on Wednesday, December 15.
Further inspection confirmed that two laptops, a widescreen television, and a projector had been stolen.
The loss of the projector had threatened to postpone the school Nativity performance, focusing on Christmas in rural areas, which went ahead later that night after last minute changes to the schedule were made.
David Davies, who has been headteacher at the school for 18 months, said: “This is a very small community and incidents like this can affect everybody. It is a sad day all round.
“We have tried to shield the children from the damage to avoid any unnecessary upset, and the mobile classrooms affected were sealed off while forensic police investigated the incident.”
Mr Davies said that the thieves appeared to have made their escape through the fields at the back of the school after they had stood on a bin to climb through a window they had broken to gain access.
Attempts were also made by the thieves to get into the main school building after staff discovered screwdriver marks around one of the windows.
It is believed the robbery may have occurred at around 4am that morning, when the caretaker’s dogs had been heard to start barking.
“We are very disappointed and the incident has really put a dampener on things. All of the staff here are very down about it,” Mr Davies added.
- The underside of the laptops are marked with codes T23325 and T23326, and anyone who may have seen them, or might have witnessed any suspicious activity on the night in question, is advised to contact the police.
