Suspect accused of area break-ins
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A South Charleston man has been charged with breaking into several area businesses.
Detectives went to a home in the 4000 block of MacCorkle Avenue Monday after they got a tip concerning items stolen during a string of break-ins at local businesses.
The resident, Curtis Todd Wilson, 38, initially denied any involvement in the break-ins and allowed his home to be searched. Inside, detectives found three laptop computers allegedly stolen from Mountain State Medicine and Rheumatology on Division Street, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Wilson was taken into custody and questioned. He told detectives he broke into State Farm insurance on MacCorkle Avenue on Nov. 15, Warehouse Pre-Owned Auto on MacCorkle Avenue on Nov. 25, Decision Hair Design on MacCorkle Avenue on Nov. 26 and Mountain State Medicine and Rheumatology on Saturday, the complaint said.
Detectives said Wilson gave statements about each incident "only the suspect would know." Wilson denied actually entering the State Farm insurance office, but detectives said several of the desks in the office had been pilfered.
A further search of Wilson's home uncovered more items allegedly stolen from Warehouse Pre-Owned Auto, Decision Hair Design and Mountain State Medicine and Rheumatology.
Wilson has been charged with four counts of breaking and entering. He is being held at South Central Regional Jail on $50,000 bond.
