Computers stolen in break and enter

TWO Orange businesses were targeted by thieves this week, costing thousands of dollars in damage and lost merchandise.

Canobolas Family Pet Hospital veterinary surgeon Geoff Freeth said his Dora Street surgery was broken into between 3.30am and 7.30am on January 27.

Thieves smashed through the practice’s front door and ransacked the office area looking for cash.

Dr Freeth said nothing was stolen during the incident but the door would cost more than $1000 to replace.

“They were probably looking for $20 and caused about $1200 worth of damage,” he said.
“We don’t keep cash on the premises and we never have.”

Dr Freeth said the practice had been broken into at least 20 times in recent years and he’d never had any drugs stolen during those incidents.

“We keep everything locked in the safe, there’s nothing they can take.”

Harvey Norman’s electronics department was also the victim of a break and enter, with thieves entering the premises on January 25 and stealing laptop computers.

Orange police are investigating both incidents.
