Thieves steal computers, snacks from Dallas charter school

DALLAS — Dallas police are looking for the burglars who busted into a Dallas charter school, stealing valuable equipment and supplies.

Teachers at Shekinah Radiance Academy, 10715 Garland Road, spent Monday morning cleaning up classrooms that had been ransacked by the thieves.

School officials found the computer lab cleaned out. Eighteen laptops and desktop computers were stolen.

The thieves busted windows on classroom doors and stole snacks and personal items from the desks of students.   

"Three little geodes I got from a store with my mom; they're gone," said dejected student Gracie Taylor.

Principal Richard Mitchell said the school does not have the $12,000 to $14,000 in the budget to replace stolen items. 

"Right now, we can't do anything, technology-wise," Mitchell said. "We have no computers except for the computers in the office, so now the kids are not going to be able to go on to use study island."

The principal said the school will have to hold a fundraiser to raise money so it can replace the stolen items.
