THIEVES smashed their way into an Evesham technology store and stole thousands of pounds worth of laptops and other computer equipment.
Shocked staff arrived at First React in Port Street on Sunday morning (January 9) to find the door window shattered and several laptops, desktop computers and monitors missing from the display window after the crooks carried out a suspected smash and grab raid.
It is the second time in less than 18 months the store has been targeted by thieves after two masked men wielding a sledgehammer tried to force their way in back in August 2009.
They left empty-handed when an onlooker chased them off but there were no good samaritans to hand this time around and the thieves left with an estimated £5,000 worth of technology.
Managing director Mark Bowater said he could not believe they had been targeted again.
"I got a call from the police on Sunday morning and I didn't know what to think. I suppose I was in shock because I could not believe it had happened again," he added.
"They didn't get away with anything last time but they still damaged a large television and we had to replace our display window. We're still counting the cost but I think they've got away with five laptops, a couple of desktop computers and monitors this time.
"The equipment stolen might be offered in a pub so I'm hoping people will keep an eye out for anything unusual."
Police said they are unsure of the exact time the robbery took place but they are appealing for witnesses who saw anything suspicious between 8pm on Saturday (January 8) and 9.30am on Sunday morning (January 9) to come forward.
Anyone with information should call police on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
