Laptop computers taken from town school

A DROITWICH Spa school has had eight laptop computers stolen over the Christmas and New Year period.

Pupils and teachers returned to Chawson First School, Wych Road, to find the site has been targeted by thieves.

The black Dell Latitude laptops, model E5500, were taken between 3pm on Friday, December 23 and 3pm on Wednesday, January 5.

They are worth a total of £6,400 but were all marked with SmartWater, an irremovable property marking liquid with a unique code, more accurate than DNA.

PC James Stephens, investigating, said: “This has been an awful discovery for staff at the school after returning from the Christmas break.

“The good news is that each of these laptops is marked with SmartWater which means they can be traced back to the school and linked to the crime if recovered.”
