Computer thief fleeing from OfficeMax evades police

WICHITA — Someone stole laptop computers from an OfficeMax on West Kellogg early this morning and evaded officers, a police spokesman said.
Police are asking anyone who might have seen the suspect's vehicle to call the burglary unit at 268-4141. The vehicle involved in the burglary was described as a white Chevrolet 4X4 pickup with the stolen Arizona license tag AB82872.
Around 5:05 a.m., officers responding to an alarm at the Office Max in the 6900 block of West Kelloggsaw a white pickup leaving the area and tried to stop it, police Lt. Doug Nolte said. The driver managed to get far ahead of officers, and in the area around the intersection of Bellview and Byron, officers lost sight of the vehicle after it took a series of turns, Nolte said.
It's not clear how the suspect or suspects got into the store. everal laptops were stolen, with an estimated value of just under $5,000, Nolte said.
