The SAPS in Galeshewe are looking for two suspects and investigating criminal charges including theft and assault following a break in and theft of six computers from the Sol Plaatje municipal offices.
Three men allegedly assaulted a security guard and tied his hands up before making off with the computers at the weekend.
Spokesperson of the police in Kimberley, Capt Tony Modise, said the suspects assaulted the security guard on duty after which they fastened his hands and blindfolded him.
The suspects used a white Toyota sedan as their getaway vehicle. Members of the SAPS public order policing unit reportedly spotted the vehicle just metres away from where the incident occurred.
During a search of the car one of the stolen computers was found in the vehicle. Further investigation led the police to a house in Chris Hani Park where the other five stolen computers were recovered.
A 30-year-old man was arrested and will shortly appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court. Sol Plaatjie municipality spokesperson Sello Matsie commended the police for doing a sterling job.
