Thieves stole baby's medical equipment while family slept upstairs

A FAMILY are devastated after thousands of pounds worth of medical equipment for their seriously-ill baby was stolen.
Thieves broke into the home of Steve and Jessica Webb and stole their cars while they slept upstairs.
They stole car keys for their two vehicles – one of which contained medical equipment for eight-month-old George, who has chronic lung disease and heart defects.
The equipment, which included a breathing monitor and feeding tubes for George, had been left in the car because the couple had been regularly travelling back and forth to hospital with him.
Games including a Wii console belonging to their seven-year-old son Jack, who has autism, were also stolen.
"The children are absolutely devastated," said Mrs Webb, 25.
"Jack is in tears constantly as they have taken all his computers and games which will break his routine."
Last month the Post reported how hospital staff failed to connect George to an oxygen supply for 25 minutes after he stopped breathing at Royal Derby Hospital.
His mother was concerned the incident had affected George's development but a report by the hospital said the youngster was at the right developmental stage for his age.
The raid took place at their Toton home on Wednesday night.
One of the cars, a Ford Galaxy specially adapted for George, has since been recovered but all the medical equipment, including a special pushchair, is now gone.
She added: "I don't know how we didn't hear it but we have been back and forth to the hospital so much we were really tired.
" It was horrible when we realised in the morning. I think my kids have been through enough lately. Now to take everything away from them, it's just the lowest of the low.
"It's quite obvious that those cars have got something for a poorly child in."
Disney DVDs, laptop computers, a DVD sound system and bronze statues were also stolen. The cars were a silver Ford Galaxy, registration number KH07 YAE and a silver Vauxhall Astra registration number SD10 WMG.
