THE GAZETTE
Employees working late Wednesday night at the state public defender's office got a surprise just after midnight as several computers were stolen.
One worker heard a noise in the hallway at 19 N. Tejon St. in downtown Colorado Springs and went to investigate. The employee saw a man running down the hall and heading for an exit. Police were called as a second man was seen in the hall.
Police showed up, but the men had already left. After further investigation, officers and employees determined that several laptop computers had been taken.
The state does not believe that any witness or client information can be accessed on the Dell computers bearing Colorado State identification codes on them.
Anyone with information that could help police find the thieves should call 444-7000.
