Store employees stole three laptops
9:10am Thursday 26th May 2011
Three supermarket workers from Keighley stole computer laptops in a moment of madness, a court heard.
Ahmed Raza Rashid, 25, Javaid Iqbal Younis, 32, and Aroon Aslam, 23, had now lost their jobs at Morrisons, Skipton magistrates were told.
Two of the computers were later recovered from Aslam’s home in Keighley, but the third had not been recovered, the court was told.
Jill Darrington, mitigating for Aslam and Younis, said both men had previous good records and as a result of the theft had lost their good names. Mohammed Hussain, for Rashid, said he had been studying for a degree in business and was being fast-tracked as a manager.
All three men admitted theft by an employee.
Rashid, of Ashleigh Street, Younis, of Spring Gardens Mount, and Aslam, of Surrey Street, were each given a 12-month community order and ordered to carry out 55 hours’ unpaid work.
They were all ordered to pay £85 costs and £83 compensation to Morrisons, for the cost of the laptop.
