Deputies responded to a burglar alarm at the Central Valley collective at Shaw and Wishon and found Hendrix nearby with a laptop. Surveillance video allegedly showed him breaking in and taking the computer.

Man arrested in pot dispensary theft

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno man has been arrested for stealing from a local marijuana dispensary, but he apparently wasn't after the pot. The Fresno County Sheriff's office says 34-year-old Patrick Hendrix broke into the dispensary around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.
This is the second theft at this dispensary this year alone. In February, a man tried to rob the shop at gunpoint.
Fresno Sheriff Margaret Mims has previously expressed concern about pot shops in residential areas, but an attorney who represents the collective says the concerns are unwarranted. "I think is self-serving of the Sheriff's Department to portray collectives as magnets for crime, when the facts just don't prove out," said attorney Brenda Linder.
Deputies say Hendrix had a small amount of marijuana on him when he was arrested, but it's not clear where he got it.
