Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:
Incident Type: Arrested Person
Incident Date 07/09/2011 - 11:42 PM
Address 400 Block of North Lake Street
Suspect(s): Continuing Investigation!
Arrested: Kenneth Jerome Reneau, 22-year-old male of Madison, WI
CHARGES: Theft (Movable property) - Statute 943.20(3)(a)
Victim: 21-year-old male of Madison, Wisconsin
Details: On July 9th, 2011, at approximately 11:42pm, Madison Police took a report of two stolen computers valuing $2,200.00 from a 21-year-old victim. The victim had recently returned to Madison, leaving the computers in his bedroom at 9pm. After returning to the apartment a few hours later, he determined that someone had stolen his personal property. No forced entry was noted at this apartment. The victim had sublet his apartment in the 400 block of North Lake Street in January of 2011, and never received payment for owed rent or utilities over that period of time. The suspect who was responsible for the sublet apartment, Kenneth Jerome Reneau, did not return the keys to the 21-year-old lease holder/victim, and was continuing to use the residence.
A report was immediately made with the police, and subsequent days to follow reflected a craigslist advertisement of the stolen computers for sale. Madison Police continued follow-up in this case, by using their ability to obtain security video footage of the crime scene, cross checking the Craigslist Advertisement information, and conducting interviews of involved parties to develop probable cause to arrest Kenneth Jerome Reneau in the 4700 block of Cottage Grove Road on July 18th, 2011. Several officers were involved in this case, and the relentless efforts on their part resulted in this arrest being made.
