Two men allegedly broke into five dorm rooms in South Hubbard Hall on Sunday morning and stole a number of computers and cash, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Detroit resident Leroy Lamar Whitt, 19, and Orrville, Ala., resident Jonathon O’Brien Hatcher, 26, were arrested by MSU police officers at approximately 7:30 a.m. Sunday, McGlothian-Taylor said.

One officer responded to complaints by several students that two men had broken into their rooms and taken their laptop and money.

There were seven victims — one 18-year-old female student and six male students between 17-19 years old. All the reported invasions took place in Hubbard Hall.

The responding officer gave the description of the men and the vehicle they were driving when he requested further assistance. The assisting officers pulled over a vehicle matching the description and arrested the two men.

The two men were arraigned in East Lansing’s 54-B District Court on Monday morning in front of Judge David Jordan on five counts of invasion.

Hatcher also was arraigned on one charge of possession of a dangerous weapon.

Both men are being held in Ingham County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Hatcher and Whitt are scheduled to appear in 54-B District Court at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 27 for a pretrial conference and at 9 a.m. Sept. 30 for a preliminary examination.
