Computers, lawnmowers, fishing equipment stolen in Opelika over the weekend (crime reports)

OPELIKA, Alabama -- Several thefts were reported over the weekend, according to the Police Department. Items stolen include cash, fishing equipment, lawnmowers, computers and a utility trailer.

• Theft of property in the 2400 block of Enterprise Drive on Feb. 21 at 4:13 p.m. The victim reported making arrangements to purchase a vehicle over the Internet for $2,250. The victim sent the money via Western Union and has not heard from or been able to contact the individual. The case remains under investigation.

• Theft of property reported in the 2200 block of Suzanne Lane between 8 p.m. on March 10 and noon on March 11. The victim reported someone stole six rods and reels along with several lures from his boat, which was parked in his yard. There are no suspects.

• Theft of property reported in the 800 block of Fruitland Avenue between noon on March 4 and 3 p.m. on March 11. The victim reported someone stole a sewer manhole cover and a storm drain grate from his property. Total value of items is listed as approximately $600. There are no suspects.

• Theft of property and criminal mischief reported at the Wal-Mart at 2900 Pepperell Parkway between 10:40 p.m. on March 10 and 1:35 a.m. on March 11. The complainant reported seeing a man pry open an emergency door in the Garden Center. The man then loaded three gas-powered lawn trimmers into a shopping cart and exited the store. A second man broke the lock off the computer storage bins and loaded nine laptop computers into a shopping cart and left the store using the same emergency door. The items were loaded into a red F-150 truck. One of the suspects was described as being white, in his early 40s, approximately 5 foot 7 and weighing about 150 pounds. The second suspect was described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet 11 tall and weighing about 220 pounds. The case remains under investigation.

• Theft of property reported at Lowery Landscaping at 500 Second Avenue between noon on March 9 and 3 p.m. on March 11. The victim reported someone stole his 16-foot black utility trailer from his business. There are no suspects.
