VICTORIA – Victoria Police are investigating at least two break and enters in the city over the weekend. The thefts are the latest in a rash of commercial break and enters in Victoria this year.
In both cases, exterior lock boxes were compromised.
After reports that Victoria Fire Department had an unaccounted for master key, Victoria Fire Chief Jeff Lambert confirmed to CTV News Tuesday afternoon that the key had been found.
Lambert says he does not how a Victoria Fire lock box was opened and says it’s a mystery: “There is somebody accessing fire department lock boxes or had been and we’re not sure how they’re doing it”.
As of Tuesday afternoon Victoria Police say they were unaware that Victoria Fire had found the reported missing master key.
Victoria Fire says by Wednesday all of its lock boxes connected to any of the Department’s 37 master keys will have been replaced.
One man has been arrested in relation to the break and enter of a medical building at 1990 Fort Street. Victoria Police have also returned some of the stolen equipment including hard drives with personal information.
