School Computer Theft Case Solved
(Mt. Pleasant, MS) The thefts occurred during spring break just a few weeks ago.
Librarians at the H.W. Byers school in Mount Pleasant found more than a dozen Apple notebook computers missing.
Investigator Kelly McMillen says it didn’t take long to figure out what happened, ”Apparently one of the students prior to spring break came into the library and unlocked one of the windows”.
How does he know? A librarian reportedly saw the student unlock window and came behind him and locked it back.
She told investigators about it as they looked into the crime, so they immediately tracked down the student.
The trail led to Starkville, and Mississippi State student Terrence Henderson who said he didn’t know the computers he was buying from the student were stolen, even though they had tracking numbers and inventory stickers from the school still on them.
McMillen believes the two could very well face jail time, ”We’re waiting on the action of the Grand Jury and courts obviously but we’re collected two out of the fourteen computers back”.
Why so few? Apparently, Hendersonwas running his own personal Apple store on “Craig’s List” and relatively few of the computers were sold locally.
The investigaton continues.
