TENNESSEE COMPUTERS STOLEN http://www.newschannel9.com/news/top-stories/stories/health-dept-official-discusses-stolen-computers-4103.shtml?wap=0

Health Dept. Official Discusses Stolen Computers

We're hearing from the health department about those computers that were stolen over the last year.

Now that Ricky Flerl is behind bars and the investigation is nearly complete, we wanted to know how the computers got into the wrong hands in the first place and why it took a year for anyone to notice.

"No patient information, no medical information, no personal information has been compromised. The computers in question were new," said Becky Barnes, the Hamilton Co. Health Dept. administrator.

The stolen computers were new one year ago, and that's how long it took before Becky Barnes, the Health Department administrator, reported to police that they were missing.

When we asked Barnes when she first noticed the computers were missing, she said, "Well because it's an active and ongoing investigation, the timeline, we just need to let the police do their work, and that's something we can't talk about right now."

Meanwhile, the affidavit, which is open to the public, says on December 31st, 2012, Barnes discovered that she was missing numerous laptop and desktop computers over the last year or so.

Barnes and her assistant, Abena Williams, are preferring to keep tight-lipped about the situation."We are just not at liberty to give that information right now," said Abena Williams, the spokesperson for the Hamilton Co. Health Dept.

And that's especially true when it comes to who's job it is to make sure inventory is kept in check. "We need to wait until the investigation is over," said Barnes.

When we asked who is in charge of inventory at the health department, Barnes responded, "I think we're done here."
