Duyong MCA ops centre broken into in the wee hours

MALACCA: The Duyong MCA operations centre was broken into in the wee hours of this morning, resulting in the theft of an LCD television set and a computer collectively worth around RM1,500.

State MCA chairman Datuk Gan Tian Loo said at around 9.30am, he had been informed of the incident.
“I am very disappointed that such a thing could have happened – the computer which was stolen had a lot of valuable information in it.
“However, I find it odd that thieves would see much value in a computer that was about four to five years old, which leads me to believe that this could have been an act of sabotage,” he said when met at the operations centre.
Gan, who is the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Duyong state assembly seat, said the constituency was a ‘hot’ seat, as he is contesting against state DAP chairman Goh Leong San.
“Since nomination day, I had been made aware that incidents such as this were likely to happen, so I would like to remind all BN operations centres in the state to be vigilant and take the proper precautions.
“If this was indeed an act of political sabotage, I would like to tell those responsible to refrain from doing such dishonorable acts – let this be a clean fight,” he said.
Gan added that a police report had been filed at the Kandang police station at 9am after one of the volunteers discovered that the operations centre had been broken into through the back window on the ground floor.
“I was told that volunteers had closed the operations centre at around 1.30am, but were still in the area up to 3am, as they had been putting up flags and banners,” he said.
