SIMCOE - Eight laptops computers were stolen in a break-in at an office building in downtown Simcoe shared by Big Brothers Big Sisters and Community Living Access Support Services early Tuesday morning.
Windows and inside doors were also broken as thieves gained access to individual offices.
Value of the stolen goods and damage is estimated at $4,750.
Renee VanderHarst, resource co-ordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Brant Haldimand Norfolk, said the agency’s national office “closed down” access to confidential information contained on the two laptops that were taken from the Bigs side of the building.
Tricia Morris, executive director of Community Living Access Support Services, said there was “very little information” on the laptops stolen from her agency.
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the thieves and ask that anyone with any information about the break-in to contact them.
“Somebody is going to try to sell these computers,” noted Norfolk OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk. “We ask people to have the courage to step forward.”
Police can be contacted at 1-888-310-1122. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-222-8477 or go to www.helpsolvecrime.com.
