Thousands of dollars in jewelry, electronics and other items were reported stolen from a duplex home in the 1700 block of Glenn Avenue.
Two of the rear units were broken into sometime between 3 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday, police were told.
An estimated $5,600 in items were taken from one unit, including three televisions, an Xbox 360 console, two DVD players, 12 pairs of infant shoes, six gold chains, a gold ring with diamonds, three sets of gold, heart-shaped earrings, a desktop computer and a set of bath towels.
Police were provided serial numbers for the electronics.
Footprints in the snow led from the front of the home to the south side before leading into an alleyway between Glenn Avenue and Monroe Street.
The tracks then went into the backyard of a nearby home before disappearing at where the yard meets Melrose street.
The footprints had no distinguishable characteristics.
A desktop computer, a printer, PlayStation 3 console and a set of dishes, with a combined value of $1,165, were taken from the second unit.
Both doors looked as though they had been forced open, police said.
