Oregon State Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying two people suspected of thefts Monday morning at Oregon State University.
Between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., two wallets were stolen out of different offices in Burt Hall and Ballard Extension Hall. An Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer was stolen out of an office in the Pharmacy Building.
One of the victims reported that her stolen debit card was used at Rite Aid and Staples in Corvallis and at a Chevron gas station in Albany, amounting to more than $700 in fraudulent charges.
One of the charges at Staples was for a power cord to go with an Apple laptop computer, which one of the suspects had carried into the store.
There also was a reported attempt to use the stolen debit cards at a Home Depot store in Tigard.
The suspects, shown in video surveillance images obtained from the Rite Aid in Corvallis, are described as follows:
Suspect No. 1: African-American adult male, approximately 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, clean cut, no facial hair; he was wearing dark glasses.
Suspect No. 2: Adult female, race unknown, 5-foot-6, medium build, and straight black shoulder-length hair.
Anyone with information to help identify the suspects is asked to call the OSU Dispatch Center at 541-737-3010, then select option 2.
Information also can be sent to crimetips2OSP@
state.or.us. Emailed tips will be monitored by the OSP Criminal Investigation’s Division, reviewed and then forwarded to the lead investigators for follow-up. Emails should include specific details including the type of case and tip information related to the criminal investigation. Even though tips may be received anonymously, email authors are encouraged to provide contact information for follow-up, if needed.
