Prison plans on stolen computers
March 10, 2009

A BATCH of stolen computers due to be sent to a new prison contained its blueprints and access codes and other confidential information, it has been revealed.

According to a report by the L'Est Républicain ,
four laptops were stolen from the offices of the company charged building the new Maxévilleprison at Nancy between 12.00 and 14.00 yesterday while there were no staff on site.

The burglars forced open a door and a window of Eiffage BTP’s offices in Haut-du-Lièvre,
taking the computers which contain top secret information. No other businesses in the building were targeted.

It throws doubt on whether the new prison, costing €54 million and due to accommodate 690 prisoners, will be able to open in June as planned.

The company has moved premises and an investigation is under way.
