NEW GUINEA 6 COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SUPREME COURT OFFICE Nation pageCourt files stolen from Waigani registry

SIX computers have been stolen from the Supreme Court registry office in Waigani, Port Moresby - just two weeks after a similar break-in at the National Court registry.
This time, the thieves are believed to have struck early yesterday morning. It was learnt that no guard is on duty during those hours.
Staff found the metal and wooden doors forced open when they turned up for work.
One employee, who requested anonymity, said the office was in a mess.
"Files were scattered all over the floor.
"Whoever broke into the office were only after valuable items such as the computers," the staff said.
The computers contain a database of records of all past and present Supreme Court cases.
The staff said they will have to depend on manual records when court sittings begin next week.
National and Supreme Court registrar Ian Augerea said the theft would not have any adverse effect on the sittings as they still have the files and other records.
Police are investigating.
