VENEZUELA JOURNALISTS COMPUTERS STOLEN eluniversal.com - Daily News and SummaryIn the last few months, several journalists have suffered attacks in their own houses, and the most frequent objects stolen are computers, where they are supposed to keep information on their routine activities.
"If it is not a government policy, then the other powers have overlooked it," Jordán commented. "It is no secret that the government is surrounded by people with murder records and other troubles with justice, but the saddest (news) is that 16 members of the National Assembly are journalists that pretend not to notice this chain of robberies, attacks and aggressions."
Common factor
Curiously enough, the common factors in the assaults to the houses of journalists are their computers, files and other documents, rather than more valuable things.
The journalists who have suffered these traumatic incidents are known for their open opposition to the government, including Norberto Mazza of the Globovisión news channel, Elvia Gómez and Pedro García Otero of the El Universal newspaper, Nelson Bocaranda of the Venevisión television chain, and Argenis Martínez of the El Nacional newspaper.
