MILWAUKEE SCHOOL COMPUTERS STOLEN AND DISMANTLED FOR PARTS8 boys cited in Webster theftsFebruary 26, 2004
CEDARBURG - Eight Cedarburg students were involved in varying degrees in the theft of nominal amounts of cash and computer equipment totaling just under $1,400 from Webster Transitional School, according to police. The thefts have been occurring since the beginning of February.
The boys could not recollect all of the dates that they stole from the school, but were able to provide some general days. The first theft took place at 3 p.m. on one of the days between Feb. 2 and Feb. 6, the second occurred during the week of Feb. 9 and 13 right after school.
The boys unlawfully entered the school two times during the evening of Feb. 14 and two times in the afternoon of Feb. 15.
"They determined a way that you could force the door open without causing damage to the door and that’s probably why school staff and custodial staff weren’t aware of earlier thefts," said Cedarburg Police Chief Tom Frank.
Frank said the department was contacted by school employees after they noticed computers weren’t working. The last entry, they took a substantial amount of property," said Frank. "They actually dismantled a few computers, taking things like hard drives, RAM and components out of computers that left them disabled."
