News tonight for some Sacramento residents, their tax return and other private information may be in the hands of a criminal. H&R Block sent a letter warning its customer that someone stole computer equipment containing tax records from 1998 through last year for clients of a Sacramento H&R Block office. The letter says quote " we apologize that this incident occurred despite our ongoing efforts to secure our offices, equipment and systems against such thefts. If identity theft is the criminal's intention, your interests will be protected best if you act quickly." Some customers are frustrated over the company's timeliness, an H&R Block employee told Fox 40 the theft happened in January, yet the letter to clients is dated almost three weeks later.

One customer didn't even receive it until yesterday. If you have questions, call your local h&r block office.
